Troon Village

The living is easy is Troon Village! Located in North Scottsdale, this luxury master-planned golf community is surrounded by both desert beauty and Troon Mountain boulder outcroppings. Single-family residences -- townhomes, patio homes, semi-custom homes, and custom homes -- are organized into a collection of 12 individual, smaller gated communities, each with their own Homeowner's Association ("HOA") that establishes the standards for activities within the community and maintenance of the common areas. Troon Village residences are included in 85255, one of the most affluent zip codes in Arizona. The homes in this area typically sell for an average of $1 million or more.

The Troon Mountain area is usually a few degrees cooler than Phoenix, since the elevation here is higher, averaging about 2,600 feet. The natural beauty of this area makes it a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, especially hikers and golfers. The McDowell Mountains and Pinnacle Peak provide close-by hiking and trail running.

Scottsdale Fashion Square includes 14 movie theater screens and several alternatives for resolving those hunger pangs with eateries for casual fare, desserts, and coffee. After a snack, its back to shopping!

Kierland Commons is less than half an hour to the south. This is an outdoor shopping destination with about 70 shops that include many high-quality brands such as Chico's, Michael Kors, Crate & Barrel, Sur La Table, and Vera Bradley. Sit outside on the patio and enjoy people watching at one of several restaurants at Kierland Commons, including the upscale and elegant Mastro's Ocean Club for steaks and seafood with live entertainment — wow your party with a Seafood Tower for an appetizer! 

For a lunch date try Postino WineCafe with glasses of wine or pitchers of beer for $5 before 5 p.m., and pair with bruschetta or a charcuterie board. Not only is it delicious, but the meal itself is a conversation starter. For possibly the largest menu you've ever seen, and open for lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch, The Cheesecake Factory (while not necessarily the choice for a quiet, romantic rendezvous) is always a friends-dine-out and family favorite.

There's more to entertainment than just golf courses and hiking trails in this beautiful area of the Valley.

There is an expansive network of bike paths and trail easements throughout the Troon community. You can hike at Pinnacle Peak or at one of the many trails at the McDowell Sonoran Desert Preserve, which also allows mountain biking and horseback riding. The nearby Doc Cavalliere Park offers a shaded playground, basketball courts, and an open artificial turf field.

• Musical Instrument Museum (MIM). There's nothing else like MIM anywhere. This stunning museum showcases the music and instruments of the world in geographically arranged halls. Personal audio devices allow guests to experience the music while short videos provide the visual match to the sound. Special exhibitions, hands-on experiences and world music concerts round out the MIM lineup of activities. Every level of music lover, from the expert to the novice, will find interest and amusement here. You'll never see the entire museum in one day, so save some of the halls for when guests come to visit. 
  
  
• Taliesin West. Originally the winter home of the famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright, tours are offered daily. You'll learn about his inspiration in the desert and how his students keep his teachings alive. You can't wander here on your own; you must arrange for a tour. You can, however, find unique gifts and books in the shop without taking a tour. Taliesin West is a National Historic Landmark, and the home of the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation and the School of Architecture at Taliesin.
  
  
• Westworld of Scottsdale. The Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction, Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show, International Motorcycle Show, and International Sportsmen's Expo are just a few of the events that are hosted at WestWorld, drawing attendees from all over the country. It might be known primarily as an equestrian center, but make sure you check the calendar for home improvement shows, auto racing, holiday events, trade shows and more.
  
  
• TPC Scottsdale. Home of the "Greatest Show on Grass." That's the Waste Management Phoenix Open, where you can get up close and personal with the best golfers that the PGA Tour has to offer. Every year in late January/early February TPC Scottsdale invites about half a million people to stroll the grounds, nibble and imbibe, shop, attend shows with big-name bands and, yes, watch the greatest golfers in the world display their skills, all while raising money for local charities. You have to experience it to believe it!
  
  
• OdySea in the Desert. Take a Butterfly Pavilion, add a dollop of swimming with dolphins, mix in a huge aquarium, throw in a few handfuls of animatronic dinosaurs, and stir. This concoction is the heart of a family-friendly entertainment district in Scottsdale called OdySea in the Desert.
  
  
• McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park. Who doesn't adore trains? This free railroad park in Scottsdale has a museum, both full-size trains, and model train villages, as well as train rides for the little ones. Railfair, Halloween and Holiday Lights special events are phenomenal bonuses for area train lovers.

Hundreds of restaurants, amazing attractions, championship golf and nature at its desert finest are all easily accessible. Troon Village is so special, though, you might never want to leave.
